The comedy star has just bought a seven-bedroom mansion in North London. But despite costing him £14.75million, it’s still not quite to his liking and he’s embarking on a major renovation.
The four-storey house features a cinema, bar, staff accommodation, gym, sauna, steam room and wine cellar, as well as a landscaped garden with carefully maintained lawns.
It adds to a property portfolio that includes a £3m retreat in Buckinghamshire and two apartments on New York’s Upper East Side, which he bought in 2008 for £1.1m and in 2011 for £2.5m. All his properties are mortgage-free.

The Office founder recently lost a planning battle to add a third bedroom to his riverside home in the Home Counties, which is in the Green Belt, and withdrew his proposal.
Once the renovation is complete, the new 12,800-square-foot house will be his London home base, where he lives with his partner of 40 years, the producer and author Jane Fallon. The couple are moving from a £10.8 million, eight-bedroom house a few streets away, which he bought in 2015 and later added a badminton court, a summer house and a swimming pool.
Gervais is Britain’s richest comedian, with an estimated fortune of £120 million. Last year he set the record for the biggest box office gross for a single comedy gig: £1.4 million for a show at the Hollywood Bowl. His upcoming tour, Mortality, has already been sold to Netflix.
Gervais’ representative did not respond to a request for comment.

Emerald’s new gemstone
After the success of her film Saltburn, director Emerald Fennell has decided to adapt Wuthering Heights for the screen.
But not everyone is thrilled. Referring to Emerald’s debut film, Promising Young Woman, an English professor at the University of Bristol said: ‘Nobody responsible for that toothless monstrosity should be allowed within 100 miles of Emily Bronte.’
I hear this isn’t Emerald’s only project. A source tells me she’s also in talks with her Cinderella co-star Andrew Lloyd Webber about creating an original West End play.

Jodie will be a great Grace
Grace Jones has finally found someone to play her in a biopic – British actress Jodie Turner-Smith. Jodie, 37, who played Anne Boleyn in a Channel 5 series, says she is “obsessed” with the singer, 76, and has even been out with her.
My source says, “For years, Grace has been approached by directors who wanted to make a movie about her life, but she hesitated because she couldn’t imagine anyone playing her. She also joked that such a movie would mean she was done.
“But she has her eye on Jodie and is ready.”
The duo even joked that they are related.

They may be iconic pop culture objects, but the striking purple outfits Victoria and David Beckham wore to their 1999 wedding reception have spent the past 25 years not in a museum, but in a closet in Posh’s mother Jackie’s house.
