Emily in Paris star looks unrecognizable after shock hippie transformation – as baffled fans ask: ‘Is that really him?’

One of the stars of Emily In Paris has become unrecognisable after a shocking makeover that has left him looking like he’s stepped straight out of the 70s.

The 36-year-old French actor won the hearts of the public with his Gallic charm and his strict idol roles.

But now, in a new photoshoot promoting season four, he’s completely transformed and exudes New Hollywood hippie chic.

His marble skin is hidden behind a healthy stubble, long hair that falls over his face and striking red sunglasses.

When photos of his new look surfaced on Instagram, disbelieving fans took to the comments en masse to express their disbelief.

Do you know who he is?

The mystery actor is Lucas Bravo, who plays Chef Gabriel in Emily In Paris, one of the love interests of Lily Collins’ title role.

His striking outfit consisted of a faded denim jacket over a red-and-white printed polo shirt, which enhanced the ’70s effect of his hairstyle.

Lucas debuted the makeover when he and his Emily In Paris co-stars held a photoshoot at the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles.

Among a host of fellow players including Lucien Laviscount and Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Lucas was the unforgettable standout due to his new look.

One Instagram commenter apparently didn’t even recognize him, writing, “Who’s that guy with the 70s dress aesthetic? Cool.”

“What happened to Gabriel?” asked another in surprise, while a third exclaimed, “Where is Gabriel??????” and yet another giggled, “What happened to Gabriel, lol.”

Some fans even wondered if Lucas will wear his ’70s look in the next season of Emily In Paris, which hits Netflix on Thursday.

However, in a new teaser for season four, Gabriel is seen with the same look as in previous seasons: clean-shaven and short hair.

Lucas comes from a famous French family. He is the son of former footballer Daniel Bravo, whose sports career took place in the 80s and 90s.

After working as a model, he became a global sex symbol with his role in Emily In Paris, when the series debuted on Netflix in 2020 and became particularly popular during the lockdown.

He confessed the following year that he was working “against” his “heartbreaker” image because French filmmakers “don’t want good-looking people. They want broken faces.”

Lucas said he was “objectified overnight” when Emily In Paris became such a success. He said that, according to the prevailing trends in French cinema, “stars can’t be aesthetically beautiful and smart and have depth.”

He added: “I kept getting roles as the dumb gym teacher. It’s hard to break that image. I’m not complaining of course, but it’s the reality,” via the Times.

He recently starred in the French horror comedy The Balconettes, co-written by Portrait Of A Lady On Fire director Celine Sciamma.

He also plays the notorious ‘gentleman robber’ Bruno Sulak in an upcoming biopic called Libre, directed by Inglourious Basterds star Melanie Laurent.

Since his stardom in Emily In Paris, he has appeared in Hollywood films including Ticket To Paradise, the 2022 romantic comedy starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts.
