Emily In Paris fans are baffled by a bizarre guest appearance in the new series.

The second half of season four kicked off on Thursday, with title character Emily (Lily Collins) continuing her romance with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) while also encountering a new rival within the marketing agency.

Still, viewers were left with questions when Brigitte Macron appeared in one of the episodes. One fan called her appearance “wild.”

It was recently announced that the popular series will delve into the world of politics thanks to a surprise appearance by the 71-year-old First Lady of France. Brigitte took a selfie with the stars of the series.

And when she made her acting debut this week, viewers rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their reactions.

They expressed their surprise and shared: ‘BRIGITTE MACRON IN AN EMILY IN PARIS EP IS WILD WTFFFFFFF.’

While many were confused about her guest role, others loved her appearance. They shared: ‘Brigitte Macron in Emily in Paris is iconic.’

In the scene in question, Emily is having lunch with her protégé (and potential love rival) Genevieve. They see Brigitte sitting in a corner with other ladies.

Emily then walks over to Brigitte’s table and tells her about her Instagram. She then declares that she loves Brigitte’s country.

Brigitte warmly responds to the compliment and agrees to a photo with Emily and Genevieve.

In typical Emily style, the influencer quickly shared a photo of the trio on Instagram, with the hashtags ‘#FirstLadiesWhoLunch’ and ‘#makeiticonic’.

It had become known that Emmanuel Macron’s wife, 46, wore her own clothes ‘without any specific instructions being given to her’, as shown in the fashion series.

The former teacher opted for a black double-breasted jacket with gold buttons and teamed the skirt suit with a £4,200 Dior Lady D-Joy bag.

Ms Collins wore a vintage Yves Saint Laurent 1976 wool cape, Tod’s Kate loafers, £780, a Delvaux Brillant Mini Teddy bag with a Marni mini skirt, £550, and completed the look with a Maison Michel wool houndstooth beret, £495.

There was already talk of a cameo in 2022, when Collins and the show’s creator, Darren Star, met Macron at the Élysée.

Ms Collins said: ‘She is a huge fan of the show and took the mention of her in season one with great humour. This scene in season four is a tongue in cheek and filming with her was both an honour and a real pleasure.’

During the first season, fans of the series saw Emily’s career take off when her social media post was shared by Brigitte.

In this episode you see how the marketing manager struggles to get used to the company while working on a campaign for the company Vaga-Jeune.

When Emily learns that the French word for vagina, le vagin, is masculine, she voices her disappointment online, eventually getting her post reposted by the first lady.

Italian-French singer Carla Bruni forwarded the meme to Brigitte. The first lady shared the post on her own feed, but viewers only see the back of her head.

The attention later causes Emily’s office to be thrown into turmoil and her position within the office is strengthened.

Emily In Paris returned last month after a two-year hiatus, with the first five episodes available since August 15.

Viewers have had to wait almost a month for the second part, which will be released on Netflix on September 11.

The final season featured a web of complex storylines to unravel, from the shock announcement of Camille’s (Camille Razat) pregnancy to Emily’s complicated love triangle with her chef neighbor Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and handsome British Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).

Emily finally makes her choice as she and Gabriel choose to explore their romance and declare their love for each other in the season finale.

In other relationship news, pregnant Camille and Athens-born Sofia, played by Melia Kreiling, move in next door to Gabriel, but after much effort to make it work, they eventually split.

The series finale ends with a shocking twist, as Camille goes to her gynecologist for a checkup and discovers the devastating truth that she was never pregnant; the test was a false positive and her stress was the cause of her late period.

Netflix viewers have less than 24 hours to wait before finding out how Gabriel takes the news and whether his romance with Emily is real.
