Emilia Clarke has admitted she was ‘more afraid of being fired than dying’ when she was admitted to hospital with a brain haemorrhage while on the cover of December/January issue of Harper’s Bazaar.
The Game of Thrones star, 37, will take home the actress prize at Bazaar’s Woman of the Year Awards on November 7, following in the footsteps of Anya Taylor-Joy.
In an interview with the publication, Emilia opened up about how she felt when she was diagnosed with the subarachnoid aneurysm.
She said: ‘I wasn’t afraid of dying. I was afraid of getting fired! I decided, ”This is not something that is going to define me”. I never gave in to any feeling of ‘Why me? This is stupid’. I was like: I have to get back to it.’
‘If I’m completely honest, I was very embarrassed by the whole thing. Like I was broken. As if the producers must think I’m some unreliable person they hired.”
