Firefighters have initiated an emergency response protocol after “three booms and shakes” were felt on Roosevelt Island in New York City early Tuesday morning.
FDNY crews were called to the 580 block of Main Street, south of the Roosevelt Island Bridge & Tram, just before 6 a.m. after receiving reports of an explosion.
Firefighters have reportedly received reports of “several explosions” in the area and are “attempting to locate the source.”
Local residents have reported waking up to hearing the sounds of explosions and feeling buildings shaking.
Neither the fire brigade nor the police have yet confirmed the reports.
