Then they all gathered for it a picturewhere the players and staff could beam with a smile together with the singer.
John seemed happy to be part of the festivities, as did City boss Pep Guardiola, who could be seen in the background before breaking into the applause.
The 76-year-old had performed the final show of his three-day stint at Manchester’s AO Arena earlier in the evening when the incident occurred.
The surprise encounter will be the perfect way to end the day for City, who kept their hopes of a historic Treble alive with a victory over Man United.
Gundogan’s support will ensure that Guardiola’s side will be full of motivation heading into their Champions League final against Inter Milan next weekend.

The game at Wembley was decided after a tense meeting between the two Manchester giants.
German midfielder Gundogan opened the scoring within 12 seconds – the fastest in FA Cup final history – to give City an early lead.
But after a handball to Jack Grealish, United leveled on a converted penalty from Portuguese playmaker Bruno Fernandes.
However, despite United’s best efforts, it was City who emerged victorious thanks to Gündogan’s second goal of the game – a fumbled volley that went into the net.
