Elon Musk’s most bizarre invention yet? SpaceX unveils a Starship rocket-shaped BLOWTORCH – but it will cost you $175
- SpaceX has launched pre-sale of a collectible lightsaber-looking torch
- It costs $175 and can be used as both a lighter and a display model of a starship
- The release came amid the failure of Starship’s rocket launch this Monday
SpaceX’s $3 billion Starship rocket may not have launched yesterday, but the company has made up for the disappointment with a new Starship-themed product: a rocket-shaped burner.
Elon Musk yesterday announced the pre-sale of his new collectible torch, designed for a host of purposes, such as melting cheese and lighting candles.
Despite looking like a lightsaber, SpaceX stressed that this $175 burner is not a toy, but could still be a “bad** 1:200 scale model” of the spacecraft.
The flame is also designed to be windproof and adjustable, with a safety lock for owner protection.
“The man in black, Johnny Cash knew a thing or two about burning desire,” the ad reads.

But love isn’t the only thing that burns. Sometimes you just want to caramelize the sugar on a crème brûlée or melt some cheese without all the subtext. Enter the Starship Torch.
“Who needs weak matches when you’ve got the power of Starship in your hands?”
The release came just as the massive 395-meter rocket was about to circle the globe before Musk dreamed of reaching Mars.
Hundreds of spectators gathered around the Starbase facility in Texas before the launch countdown started.
But SpaceX pulled the plug with less than eight minutes to go, and Musk tweeted that the ‘pressure valve’ was frozen.
SpaceX’s Kate Tice also added during a live stream, “The purpose of the countdown is to allow the teams to go through that T-zero time in a coordinated way and really reveal any issues ahead of the firing sequence. “
The launch was delayed at least 48 hours from its original launch time at 2pm GMT yesterday.
Yet, amid the uncertainty, Twitter was flooded with comments about the ‘mini spaceship carrying’ [a] flame,” Elon Musk shared online last night.

The CEO of Tesla announced the new fragrance Burnt Hair to his millions of Twitter followers
One user said, “I decided last week I needed a kitchen burner, and lo and behold! here’s the perfect one! Preordered.’
Another added: “I bought mine, I will use it to light cigars.” Not a flamethrower is too much flame.’
Several other users have also uploaded screenshots of their SpaceX proofs, spending $175 on the Starship Torch and sometimes another $130 on jumpers.
“When are we going to colonize mars @elonmusk,” another quipped as one person tweeted, “That thing looks dual purpose.”
The refillable flashlight also follows the release of numerous other outlandish creations put forward by Musk.
Last year, Tesla’s CEO announced the new fragrance Burnt Hair to his millions of Twitter followers.
The “The Essence of Repugnant Desire,” which cost $100 a bottle, was sold along with numerous flamethrowers on the Musk’s Boring Company website.
Other unusual products are included Tesla shorts with “S3XY” printed on the back and even a “Teslaquila” alcohol brand.
The tequila brand started as an April Fool’s Day joke a few years ago, but quickly became a popular product after selling just hours after its launch.
It’s currently unclear when pre-sale of Starship Torches will end.
The ad adds, “It’s a collector’s item. It’s functional. And it burns, burns, burns. The Starship Torch.”
