Elon Musk is turned into an armed robber using his own AI system Grok in deepfake video – with the same treatment given to Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, Barack Obama, President Biden and Putin

Elon Musk has been turned into an armed robber in a deepfake video using his own Grok AI system.

The technology has also been used to create fake videos of high-profile figures including Donald Trump, Kamala Harris and Vladimir Putin committing crimes.

A doctored clip shows Musk setting fire to a supermarket with a firearm, before being arrested and handcuffed by police.

Later in the same video, Trump is seen entering a store while threatening the staff with a gun. His rival Kamala Harris and Vladimir Putin are also arrested for similar crimes.

The former president is pictured wearing an orange sweater and carrying two black pistols. Shopkeepers follow him with their arms in the air before being led away by officers.

Ms Harris, her Democratic rival, is then shown screaming as she is detained by uniformed officers.

Joe Biden, the current president, is pictured threatening his staff from a wheelchair, a reference to the questions about his age and abilities that plagued his re-election campaign before he withdrew from the nomination last month.

The deepfaked videos were created by AI studio The Dor Brothers, Indy100 reported.

The studio shared the clips on Musk’s platform, X, writing: “Someone said uncensored! Thanks @grok for letting us all have some fun.”

Other figures given the deepfake treatment in the clip include Putin, former US President Barack Obama, Mark Zuckerberg and Pope Francis.

A noticeably younger version of the Russian president is seen holding a gold coin and pointing it at shop staff before being arrested.

Facebook founder Zuckerberg is given a baseball bat as a weapon and is depicted with a reptile on his shoulder as he walks through the store.

All three figures are led away by a large group of officers.

Many users on the social media site reacted to the increasingly blurred line between real and fake clips.

Some claimed that people could be manipulated using fake videos.

One of them noted: ‘So this is the scary part. It doesn’t matter which side you’re on, even if there was real video evidence of people committing crimes, it could be dismissed as AI.

“This technology is getting better and better. Many people will be easily fooled or manipulated.”

The announcement comes amid concerns over the wave of misinformation in the run-up to the US presidential election in November, with concerns that deepfake videos could sway people toward or away from candidates.

Musk himself was criticized last week for sharing a fake clip of Harris, in which a voiceover imitates the vice president and calls Biden “senile.”

He later clarified that it was a parody, although there was originally no indication in the video that it was satire.

Last month, an edited clip was shared that appears to show Biden cursing out his critics — including using anti-LGBTQ slurs — after announcing he would not seek re-election and endorsing Harris for the Democratic nomination.
