Ellis Simms gets slammed for an ‘absolute stinker’ of a miss for Coventry at Wolves in the FA Cup… before going on to score the opener

Ellis Simms was criticized for an ‘absolute stinker’ of a miss during Coventry City’s FA Cup match against Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

Molineux hosted the first FA Cup quarter-finals of the weekend, with Premier League Wolves entertaining Championship opposition.

But it looked like Simms would give the underdogs the advantage, but slot his shot across goal and straight into the path of Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa with the rest of the net open.

The referee’s flag would have been raised for offside so it wouldn’t have counted anyway, but it was still a chance that Coventry would have been desperate to eliminate as they sought the early advantage during a first half that ended goalless.
