Ellie was the ‘happiest she’d ever been’ until she lined up for her Covid vaccines. Now she’s living a nightmare – and doctors agree the jabs are to blame
A mother has spoken out after her Covid-19 vaccine damage was finally diagnosed after years of chronic fatigue and excruciating nerve pain that was dismissed by doctors.
Ellie Sutton, from the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, told Daily Mail Australia that before receiving AstraZeneca shots in September 2021, she was the happiest “she had ever been”.
“I was at the peak of my career, had an active social life and was fit and healthy,” says the 34-year-old.
‘I did a bodybuilding competition. I loved lifting weights at the gym.
‘I lived in the city and was always busy doing things. I went to classes, I went to music festivals. I experienced life in all its full richness.
“I always believed that vaccines were safe, so when my employer mandated that I get vaccinated or lose my job, it seemed like an easy decision.”
The AZ shots made her temporarily ill, but the Pfizer booster that was injected around April 2022 was very different.
“Not long after, the whole right side of my body went numb,” Ms Sutton said.
Ellie Sutton (pictured with her nephew) said her life has been affected by debilitating pain and chronic fatigue since taking two AstraZeneca Covid vaccines and a Pfizer booster
It wasn’t until she visited a doctor at a long Covid clinic in 2024 that Ms Sutton was diagnosed with vaccine injury
‘I presented to A&E thinking I was having a stroke. They told me it was probably just a migraine and that I should go home.”
She said her health started to go downhill quickly.
“I had only been seeing my partner for a few months and was complaining of a funny tingling sensation in a small part of my arm,” Ms Sutton said.
“He said it was probably a pulled muscle that would heal quickly.
‘Instead, the tingling got worse over the next few weeks, slowly spreading up my entire arm, then my upper back, then down my back, my legs, feet, hands and face until my whole body was covered and incredibly painful,’ says Mrs. said Sutton.
‘The nerve pain progressed to painful spasticity and banding, where muscle areas in my body tensed up as hard as a rock, squeezing and staying that way for a few minutes to hours.
‘I started experiencing internal tremors, migraines, muscle fasciculations, heart palpitations, food sensitivities, debilitating chronic fatigue, muscle weakness and intense dizziness.
Ms Sutton said that during bad spells ‘even my clothes touching my skin hurt me’
Ms Sutton said what was irritating was that doctors couldn’t tell her what was wrong, or dismissed her symptoms as ‘anxiety’ (pictured under EGG)
‘Just by going from sitting to standing, my heart rate would skyrocket to over 200 beats per minute. I started losing drastic amounts of weight very quickly until I was only about 100 lbs.
‘Every night I went to sleep, I really did so with the fear that I wouldn’t wake up again.’
Ms Sutton said the cause of her rapidly deteriorating health remains a mystery.
Doctors were baffled or downplayed the symptoms as “anxiety.”
“We’ve seen 40 doctors, numerous GPs, neurologists, immunologists, cardiologists, haematologists and rheumatologists,” Ms Sutton said.
‘I kept getting fired and gassed.
“I was so conditioned by the story we were told about the safety of the vaccine that it never occurred to me that this could be to blame.”
Due to her range of medical conditions, Ms Sutton was forced to stop working in August 2022. Finally, two years later, in August In 2024, a doctor from the Covid clinic told her that she had been injured by the vaccine, which a neurologist also confirmed.
“She was evaluated by specialists, including a cardiologist, rheumatologist, immunologist, and multiple neurologists, with no alternative diagnosis established,” wrote Dr. Elizabeth Akins of Clinic Nineteen’s long COVID clinic.
“She was diagnosed with monophasic transverse myelitis by neurologist Dr Sophie Chatterton, believed to be related to the Covid-19 vaccine given the time lag of the vaccine rollout and symptoms,” Dr Akins said.
Transverse myelitis is inflammation of both sides of one part of the spinal cord. It damages the insulation material that covers nerve cell fibers and disrupts the messages the spinal cord sends throughout the body.
It can cause pain, muscle weakness, paralysis, sensory problems, or bladder and bowel disorders.
Ms Sutton said she has recently found some respite after coming ‘from a very dark place’ where she had been in pain for months.
Ms Sutton said before she got the Covid jabs she was at the peak of her career and enjoying life to the fullest
With each debilitating bout of intense nerve pain, Ms. Sutton said her body loses more function
“I finally have a method to control my pain,” she said.
‘But I’m getting worse and worse, I’m afraid I’ll lose the ability to walk every day.
‘I can no longer hold a toothbrush to brush my teeth. It’s as if my cells can no longer produce energy.
‘I’m about to faint. It almost feels like you’re dying.
‘Even just a conversation means I have to sleep for hours. When I leave the house I use a wheelchair because otherwise I collapse.’
The mother of two daughters said she was sometimes so overwhelmed by the pain and felt so hopeless that she considered euthanasia but went ahead for her children.
She advocated that Covid vaccine victims be listened to, believed and supported.
“We are real people,” she said.
“We are mothers, sisters, daughters, fathers, brothers and sons who have experienced the most difficult years of their lives.”
AstraZeneca and Pfizer have been contacted for comment.
