Ellen DeGeneres surfaces with wife Portia de Rossi in Montecito… after announcing she is ‘done’ with showbiz once her Netflix special drops

Ellen DeGeneres showed up in Montecito with wife Portia de Rossi on Friday, a week after announcing she’s “done” with showbiz once her Netflix special comes out.

The 66-year-old comedian is in the middle of her farewell tour Ellen’s Last Stand… Up, the final shows of which are being filmed for the streaming service.

Her last tour was in 2018, four years before her daytime talk show was canceled amid a flood of allegations about a “toxic” work environment.

This week, she returned home to California between performances to enjoy some sunshine with Portia, her boyfriend of 20 years.

Portia and Ellen were spotted with their friends at an outdoor table at a local deli, where they enjoyed some shade under umbrellas.

Ellen stuck to her usual style, wearing a loose-fitting short-sleeved shirt and a baseball cap. She shielded her eyes from the sun with large sunglasses.

Meanwhile, Portia sported her slim frame in a tight black T-shirt, which she tucked into her green pants to accentuate her tiny waist.

Ellen enjoyed her last day off between shows. Last weekend she played twice in Dallas and on Saturday she will be on stage at The Masonic in San Francisco.

This month, she discussed her departure from the spotlight on stage in Santa Rosa, joking that she’ll be canceled next time because she’s “old, gay and mean,” according to SF port.

When asked if she would become famous again in the future, she flatly rejected the possibility.

“This is the last time you’ll see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done,” Ellen said of her upcoming hour-long show, which will tape this fall.

“Let me give you an update on what’s been happening to me since the last time you saw me,” Ellen told the audience.

“I have chickens. Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean.”

DeGeneres added: “I always said, ‘I don’t care what people say about me.’ Now I realize I said that when I was so popular.”

The 34-time Emmy winner said the first time she was “thrown out of show business” was when she came out as a lesbian in 1997.

“Next time I’ll get kicked out because I’m old. Old, gay and mean, the triple crown,” joked Ellen – who said it was never her intention to hurt anyone.

“I can be demanding and impatient and tough. I’m a strong woman. I’m many things, but I’m not mean.”

DeGeneres was famous for her voice for the forgetful fish Dory in the Pixar films Finding Nemo (2003) and Finding Dory (2016), and in the special DVD film Exploring the Reef with Jean-Michel Cousteau (2003). One fan even begged her for another voice.

“No,” the Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient waved away. “I’m just going to say hello, remember?”

The DeGeneres scandal was sparked by a single tweet written by comedian Kevin T. Porter in March 2020, asking people for the “craziest stories you’ve ever heard about Ellen being mean.” It received 2,600 responses.

Four months later, BuzzFeed News published a revealing report featuring one current and 10 former employees of the Louisiana-born comedian’s eponymous daytime talk show, detailing racism, workplace bullying and sexual harassment.

In August 2020, WarnerMedia launched an internal investigation, Ellen formally apologized to its 255 employees, and executive producers Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman and Jonathan Norman were all fired from the show.

DeGeneres — who also apologized to her fans on the radio — aired her final episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on May 26, 2022 after 19 seasons.

She later called it a “coordinated, misogynistic” attack on her and has largely stayed out of the spotlight since the talk show last aired on May 26, 2022.

Earlier this week, Ellen decided not to address her fans before quietly canceling four scheduled shows in Dallas, San Francisco, Seattle and Chicago on her 32-concert comeback tour.

The comedienne’s cancellations came hours after SF Gate homepage editor Gabe Lehman published a detailed review of her show at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa, California.

“Unfortunately, the event organizer had to cancel your event,” Ticketmaster told customers on Wednesday.

‘You don’t need to do anything at all. We will refund the money to the original payment method you used at the time of purchase, once the funds have been received from the Event Organizer.

‘It should appear in your account within 14-21 days. Please note: If the tickets were transferred to you, the refund will go to the fan who originally purchased the tickets from Ticketmaster.’

Ellen will perform Monday at the Paramount Theatre in Denver, Colorado.

Her comedy special will be released later this year. It will be her second Netflix special, following 2018’s Relatable.
