“This place is all about the place,” she said. “The house needed a lot of work, but the place was always great.”

The actress continued, “Weirdly, this was the very first place Portia and I ever looked at this (back in 2007). Honestly, I didn’t even want to see the place,” she then recalled. “It’s the longest I’ve ever considered on a property.”

The media personality then revealed a little bit behind their renovation process.

“Because the location was incredible, but the house — while good bones — didn’t really have any surface for me to live with, and everything clashed with everything,” she explained. “Even the ceilings.”

She later revealed that she and her wife never clash over design choices: “There’s no division. She loves horses as much as I love houses.

“But we don’t live in each other’s silos,” DeGeneres added. ‘Actually, I can’t get her to go into a furniture store with me. Unless there’s a horse in there somewhere.”
