Ellen DeGeneres is returning to the small screen for what she says will be the final comedy special of her career.
The former talk show host, 66, who recently sold her sprawling Southern California mansion for $96 million, is set to star in Netflix’s Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval.
The special was recorded while the comedian was on a stand-up comedy tour that kicked off in San Diego in June.
On the show, the comedian revealed she would be opening up about being “kicked out of show business” after her daytime talk show was canceled following allegations of harassment, racism and sexual misconduct.
The Emmy-winning series ended in May 2022 after 19 successful seasons.

Three producers were fired after parent company Warner Media conducted an internal investigation.
“To answer the questions that everyone’s been asking me — Yes, I’m going to talk about it. Yes, this is my last special. Yes, Portia is so beautiful in person,” DeGeneres said in a statement.
She also serves as a producer on the special, along with her wife, Portia de Rossi, and Emmy-winning writer-director Ben Winston.
For Your Approval is the first special DeGeneres has curated since 2018’s Relatable.
According to a description, the comedienne will cover a wide range of topics: “From the mundane world of keeping chickens and parallel parking to the harsh realities of becoming a household name, she delves deep into her roots as a stand-up comedian and portrays life’s most real and absurd realities in a laugh-out-loud way.”
DeGeneres made history as the first lead actress on a series to come out as gay on the sitcom Ellen, which aired from 1996 to 1998.
After the series ended, the actress made occasional guest appearances on shows such as Will and Grace and Edtv.
Her voice work for the role of Dory in the hit Disney/Pixar animated series Finding Nemo revived her star in 2003, the same year she launched The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

During the special, DeGeneres will cover a variety of topics, “from the mundane world of keeping chickens and parallel parking to the harsh realities of becoming a brand-name celebrity,” a statement said.
Even though For Your Approval will be her final stand-up comedy special, that doesn’t mean DeGeneres is retiring from show business.
She works behind the scenes as a producer on the upcoming series Little Funny, which sees rising comedian Saffron “Saffy” Herndon get advice from established comedians Chris Rock, Wanda Sykes and Iliza Shlesinger.
The multi-talented actress also serves as executive producer on the film Couple Time, starring Allyn Rachel and Patrick Carlyle as a young married couple living in Los Angeles as they grow closer and approach life from their shared quirky perspective.
