Elle Fanning joins Timothee Chalamet at NYC screening of Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown

Elle Fanning joined co-star Timothee Chalamet at a screening of the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

On Saturday, the special event was organized by MoMA to showcase the film about the life of folk legend Bob Dylan as a possible Oscar candidate for 2025.

A Complete Unknown is scheduled to hit theaters on Wednesday, December 25 and has already received mixed reviews from fans and critics.

Saturday’s star-studded event featured a panel with cast members including Chalamet, Fanning, James Mangold, Boyd Holbrook and Monica Barbaro.

Fanning, 26 – who performs as Sylvie Russo, a character inspired by the famous 1960s singer’s muse – wore a deep mint green blouse that teased her lace bra, paired with a black flared skirt.

28-year-old Chalamet – who plays a young Dylan in the film – presents himself casually in a dark jacket, black jeans and light brown boots.

Just one night before, the Dune actor shocked fans when he wore straight blonde locks under a blue beanie as he recreated one of Dylan’s iconic 2003 looks. We can assume that the hair color change was probably a wig.

Monica Barbara, 35 – who appears in the film as iconic folk singer Joan Baez – looked glamorous in a black playsuit with puffed sleeves and gold buttons.

The film stars Dune star Bob Dylan and centers on the singer-songwriter’s controversial switch to electric instruments at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.

It was confirmed that Chalamet – who will also be joined in the cast by Edward Norton – will do his own singing in the film after lending his vocals to his 2023 musical film Wonka.

A Complete Unknown has already received three Golden Globe nominations: Best Picture – Drama, Best Actor for Chalamet’s portrayal of the 83-year-old singer.

The Critics Choice Awards also nominated the film for Best Picture, Chalamet for Best Actor and Norton for Best Supporting Actor.

Director James Mangold confirmed that he worked with Bob Dylan on the project and that the Hurricane singer had some personal input into the screenplay.

During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the filmmaker said, “I spent several wonderfully charming days in his company, just one-on-one, talking to him.

“I have a script that is personally annotated by him and cherished by me. He likes movies. The first time I sat down with Bob, one of the first things he said to me was, “I love Cop Land.”

While the pic will cover Dylan’s early years, Logan’s director emphasized that Complete Unknown wasn’t strictly a biopic about the musician.

He explained, “It’s not really a Bob Dylan biopic, by the way.

“The reason Bob has been so supportive of us making it is that it’s about: In all cases, I think the best true films never go from cradle to grave, they’re about a very specific moment.

“In this case, it might sound Altman-esque, but it’s kind of an ensemble piece about this moment, the early 1960s in New York, and this 17-year-old kid with $16 in his pocket hitchhiking to New York. York to meet Woody Guthrie who is in the hospital dying of a nervous disease,” he finished.

Chalamet gave fans a first look at the highly anticipated movie poster via Instagram in late August, just after the first trailer was released, giving fans a taste of the New York native in action.

And he has been spotted channeling the singer on set on several occasions.

An insider close to the actor said there is a lot at stake for him: ‘There is a lot of pressure to do well. Bob Dylan fans are insane and will tear him apart [Timothee] apart if he’s wrong.’

The title — A Complete Unknown — is recognizable from Dylan’s career-changing rock song, Like a Rolling Stone.
