Ellangowan crash: Two teenagers killed after car hits tree and bursts into flames

Two teenagers have been killed after a car crashed into a tree and burst into flames.

The sedan was traveling in Ellangowan, 16km south of Casino in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, when it left the road and struck a tree about 8.50pm on Saturday.

Passersby stopped to help and emergency services were called to the scene of the accident.

However, the driver and a passenger, both 18, could not be saved.

A NSW Police spokesperson said: 'Passers-by stopped to help; however, the 18-year-old man driving the sedan was deceased.

“They provided first aid to an 18-year-old woman, who was the only passenger; But she also died on the spot.”

The police have started an investigation into the accident.
