A young girl at a Catholic primary school has been rushed to hospital after allegedly being stabbed by another student.

The alleged incident occurred at 9am on Friday when South Australia Police were summoned to St Thomas More School in Elizabeth Park, north of Adelaide.

South Australia Police said the female student was taken to Women’s and Children’s Hospital in an ambulance after suffering injuries from the alleged attack.

A student was allegedly stabbed by another student at a primary school in Adelaide’s northern suburbs just before 9am on Friday.

“The victim suffered superficial lacerations to her torso,” South Australia police said.

It is believed she suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers detained a male student who allegedly carried out the attack and confiscated a knife

Another person, suspected suspect, has also been arrested by the police.

South Australia Police responded with a report that a student had been stabbed by another student at St Thomas More School in Elizabeth Park, north of Adelaide

The school was closed for a short time, but police said there is no further risk to students following the alleged incident.

According to the Adelaide Advertiser, some parents rushed to collect their children from the school.

The paper reports that several students remained at the school and were spotted outside participating in physical activities.

Emergency services have left the area, but the police car is still at the scene.
