“They are the only interviews that the woman, Candy Montgomery, actually participated in after her trial,” she continued. “So it’s really the only source I have that gives me insight into who she is and how she was raised.”

The artist, best known for her portrayal of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise, then hilariously joked, “I don’t know, playing characters who make questionable decisions is something I really enjoy!”

Plemons, who is married to actress Kirsten Dunst, reflected on the “added pressure” of playing a real person, which he says must be an “unusual feeling.”

Elizabeth said working with the Emmy winner was “amazing” and they were “lucky” to have a little rehearsal time, which she called a “luxury” to “really discuss everything” they needed before shooting.

“We kind of got to know each other as actors and people, while the characters were just starting their affair,” she joked.

When asked if viewers should expect more from her as the Scarlet Witch in the near future, Elizabeth was cautious about her answer.

“It’s a tough question for me to answer because I feel like more words get twisted every time I answer,” she admitted.

She then said she ‘hopes so’ but ‘I have no idea’.

“Playing characters who make questionable decisions, I really enjoy that!” she was ecstatic about her latest role based on real life ax killer Candy Montgomery for HBO Max’s true crime series

“When I say that, it’s not because I have a loaded answer… it’s because I mean it on the face of it,” she insisted.

When asked if they ever started taking pictures, Elizabeth replied, “Absolutely not!”

She also said she hadn’t even seen a script yet and is “not yet contracted” for the next project.

Her show, Love and Death, which follows the true story of Candy Montgomery, a Texas housewife who killed her church friend Betty Gore with an ax in 1980, comes out April 27.

Despite overwhelming evidence against her, Montgomery was acquitted of the murder charge, with the jury believing she acted in self-defense.

The Texas Monthly articles, which debuted in 1984, would eventually reveal that Montgomery was having an affair with Gore’s husband before killing Betty with 41 blows from an axe.

The 1984 book Evidence of Love had previously been adapted into the 1990 TV movie A Killing In a Small Town, which won Barbara Hershey both a Golden Globe and an Emmy for playing Candy Morrison, based on Candy Montgomery.

“This is a gripping tale of the frustrations and desires of two women in a small town that culminates in a horrific act of violence,” Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max, said in a statement.

Last year, Jessica Biel took on the role of Montgomery in Hulu’s series Candy.
