A teenager is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after falling out of the back of a moving car.

Emergency services were called to Campbell Road at Elizabeth Downs in Adelaide, South Australia, shortly after midnight on Saturday.

They had received reports that a 17-year-old boy had fallen from the back of a moving car.

The teenager sustained life-threatening injuries despite police saying the car was traveling at “slow speed”.

The Elizabeth South resident was rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital where he continues to receive treatment for his injuries.

The main accident investigators also attended the scene.

SA Police said the teens knew each other and were having fun before the accident happened.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and police are continuing to investigate.
