Elizabeth Banks has said she feels a “much deeper responsibility” to release her new film Call Jane in the wake of the destruction of Roe v Wade.
The 48-year-old actress and director stars in the 1960s drama about a housewife who discovers that her pregnancy is a threat to her own life and joins the Jane Collective to fight for abortion rights.
While the film was made before June, when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the landmark Roe v Wade ruling that established a constitutional right to abortion, Elizabeth said its relevance had only grown.

The star appeared on The Graham Norton Show and described the feature film as “a 40-year-old woman’s coming of age film.”
She added: “The film was written and made before Roe v Wade was rolled back, but now we feel a much deeper responsibility to get this story out.”
When asked how she talks about sex with her own children, she replied, “I’m not ashamed at all and I’m very open with them.

“I learned from my own mother that those conversations should take place as early and as often as possible.
“The only way to reduce the number of abortions is to provide good sex education so that women understand what’s going on with their bodies, how to protect themselves and learn that sex can be fun.”
Call Jane is set in the summer of 1968, when protesters rocked the Democratic National Convention.

According to Deadline.com, Banks’ character Joy Griffin is a homemaker and mother experiencing a life-threatening pregnancy that no doctor will allow her to terminate.
After finding herself out of options, she discovers a network of women who provide safe abortions for women in need without question.
The supporting cast includes Kate Mara, Chris Messina, Aida Turturro and Wunmi Mosaku.
It is slated to release in the US on Friday, October 28, and in the UK on Friday, November 4.

Keeping tight-lipped about the plot of the whodunnit, the 43-year-old said: “I really can’t tell you much about it because it’s a mystery, but it was so much fun to do and my character Birdy was fantastic thing to do. play.
“The cast is great and Daniel (Craig) was a lot of fun to watch.
“We weren’t allowed to see the film except with an audience, which I’ve never done before and it caused a lot of sweating and headaches, but when I saw it with so many people, it was just raw and a great party.” It was cool.’
