- The Stop Antisemitism group shared screenshots of Camilla Deterre’s messages
An elite New York modeling agency dropped a fashion model and interior designer after she posted anti-Israel posts on social media comparing the country to the Nazis.
Camilla Deterre, 32, is no longer represented by Elite New York, according to an agency spokesperson.
The termination of her contract comes after she was profiled this summer in Graydon Carter’s news magazine Air Mail for her role in the design of a Chinatown restaurant.
The Stop Antisemitism group, which calls itself a “leading nonpartisan U.S. organization combating antisemitism,” shared screenshots of her inflammatory Instagram posts.
One of the posts contains a comparison between the “beliefs” of Israel and Nazi Germany, according to the person who originally posted it, involving both “millions driven from their homes” and “enforced collective punishment.”

The message ends with “F*** America” and “F*** Israel” along with the hashtag “#freepalestine.”
A spokesperson for Elite New York confirmed to the New York Post that Deterre was fired from her position on Tuesday, but declined to provide a reason.
Deterre was born in Manhattan and has worked at interior design firm Roman and Williams, whose credits include Gwyneth Paltrow’s property in Montecito, California.
She has also modeled for labels such as Maryam Nassir Zadeh and Eckhaus Latta.
She is the daughter of Ana Opitz, co-owner of SoHo vodka bar Pravda, a famous celebrity haunt that closed after two decades.
Deterre was also one of the key figures behind the design of Casino, a Chinatown restaurant that opened last December.
According to the profile, the location is “one of the best-designed new restaurants in the world.”
The war that began after Hamas’ deadly attack on Israel on October 7 has sparked widespread protests in the US.
On Saturday, thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters poured into the streets of Brooklyn, New York’s largest district, to express their anger over the Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip.
Over the past three weeks, the city has been rocked by demonstrations, rallies and vigils in support of the Palestinians and Israel.
Left-wing American Jewish activists are also taking action against Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza.
Mayor Eric Adams, who governs a city of nearly nine million including the world’s largest Jewish community after Israel, has repeatedly assured pro-Israel rallies that Israel’s “struggle” is also New York’s struggle.
About 8,796 Palestinians, including 3,648 children, have been killed in Gaza since the war with Israel broke out on October 7.
More than 1,400 people have been killed in Israel, most of them civilians.
