High note:

High note: “We’re filming the eighth season, which will be the last season of Elite,” added show creator Carlos Montero during a press conference. ‘We ended on a high note.’

“I say this with great regret because it’s been an amazing few years where I’ve met wonderful actors, worked with all the directors we wanted to work with,” he continued.

“Elite changed everyone’s life, there are actors who started with us and it was a springboard for them to be world stars now.”

“That’s what’s happening with this cast and it’s an honor to have contributed to that and to know that they’ve seen us around the world and loved it.”

While the show has had a revolving door of actors, recent players include Omar Ayuso, Valentina Zenere, Andre Lamoglia, Carmen Aroufat, Alex Pastrana, Alvaro de Juana, Ander Puig, Maribel Verdu and Anita.

Spanish actress Ester Exposito, who played Carla Rossón Calleruega in the series, previously said part of the global draw came from the actors giving their best in their performances.

“We were all there when the other actors were working on their character, so we were there to see the development process of each character, and we all participated in it,” she told Bello magazine.

The juicy storylines, which often involve high school sexual escapades, also helped make the show a hit.

Guardian described Elite as “a Spanish murder-mystery soap for teenagers set in Las Encinas, a private school for the heirs to a billion-dollar fortune.”

Regrets:

Regrets: “I say this with great regret because it’s been an amazing few years where I’ve met wonderful actors, worked with all the directors we wanted to work with,” he continued.

“Thanks to his razor-sharp writing, he manages to stay grounded during his over-the-top teenage distractions – think raucous pool parties, locker-room brawls and beautiful people stabbing each other in the back.”

Critic Caroline Framke called Elite ‘alluring and clever’ shortly after its debut.

“‘Elite’ does incorporate countless teen show clichés, but it also relishes the opportunity to dig a little deeper and twist them into more interesting forms,” she added at the time.
