An elderly San Diego veteran is in danger of losing his home after his daughter, who had come to live with him to care for him, swindled him out of “tens of thousands” of dollars.

Alvin Fulcher, 77, said his child committed the “ultimate act of deception” by allegedly stealing from him, leaving bills unpaid and leaving the family vulnerable to foreclosure.

‘I don’t think she has a heart. She did this,” said the disabled Navy vet NBC7 San Diego. “She wasn’t thinking about me or her mother.”

Fulcher said he and his other children only discovered the theft in March after his old wife Ima died and they were unable to collect on her life insurance policy.

“It is sickening that this is happening to me right now. I am heartbroken especially as it was one of my children who did this to me. I say, what kind of heart does she have? She grew up in this house,” Fulcher said.

The veteran – who is currently having to navigate his way around his home as he has lost most of his sight – said his youngest daughter had moved in to help them.

Once inside, the woman took over her elderly parents’ finances and stole thousands, including Fulcher’s Social Security income and military retirement pay.

Fulcher and his other children claim that they later discovered a huge pile of uunpaid bills and a bank letter threatening foreclosure.

The letter, according to NBC 7, shows that Fulcher more over $28,000 on his home.

The accounts had been untouched since June 2022.

“This is just too much. I can’t stand it and I want her to pay,” he said.

According to a GoFundMe set up by the family, police said they will not take any action against the daughter or her boyfriend because it is a “civil matter.”

The San Diego Police Department is investigating the incident as a possible case of elder abuse.

“She never gave a reason, just said, ‘My mistake, my mistake…'” Fulcher said.

The veteran said he now depends on the help of his relatives and friends.

“My grandson wants me to live with him in San Antonio. I’d rather not. I like to be more independent,” he said.

He hopes they can find a way to stay in their home – located in the Lemon Grove neighborhood – where they have lived for 30 years.

While his relatives talked to banks, they set up a fundraiser in the hopes of buying more time.

The GoFundMe set up to help Fulcher and his children pay the bills has already raised more than $37,000.

Hundreds of strangers contributed to the cause to help Fulcher keep his home.

“God bless you as we provide strength and support to our veterans in times of need,” wrote one person who put in $10.

“I miss my grandparents so much and when I read your story my heart broke. Hope this helps,” replied one woman who donated $50.
