An elderly man is reportedly thrown from the balcony of a unit in Yeronga, Brisbane

An elderly man has died and another man has been charged with murder after falling from a balcony in Brisbane.

Emergency services rushed to the unit on School Road in Brisbane’s riverside suburb of Yeronga about 1.40pm after hearing reports that a 74-year-old had fallen from a first-floor balcony.

Police claim the man was thrown ‘over’ the balcony before ‘hitting the cement below’.

The Yeronga man suffered serious head injuries in the fall and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital where he later died.

Officers arrested a 49-year-old man at the scene and charged him with murder.

The police do not assume that the men knew each other.

The man will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
