Elden Ring’s Hidetaka Miyazaki isn’t against the popular Seamless Co-Op mod and might consider including “start to finish, total co-op” in future FromSoftware games

Elden RingDirector Hidetaka Miyazaki says he might consider including “start-to-finish, total co-op” in future FromSoftware games.

Speaking in an interview with PC gamer before the release of Elden Ring‘s extension Shadow of the Erdtreethe president of FromSoftware was asked to comment on the popular Seamless Co-op mod.

If you are unknown, Seamless cooperation allows players to party with their friends in one continuous multiplayer session and offers a different experience when exploring the Lands Between.

While Elden Ring does have a co-op system, it is quite limited and you cannot play with friends all the time.

According to Miyazaki, he is not opposed to players using the mod during their adventures and explained that when designing the game’s summoning mechanic, he wanted it to be more casual.

“It’s definitely not something we actively oppose or want to downplay because we want to play the whole game together,” Miyazaki said. “In terms of where we were Elden Ring, it was just a matter of wanting a more loose, casual style: drop by, beat a boss, drop out. It doesn’t put any technical limitations on the player, it just allows him to complete his focus and then move on, so to speak.”

Miyazaki further revealed that FromSoftware may consider changing its approach to co-op with future titles, given the mod’s popularity.

“That’s not to say we won’t consider other ways for you and your friend to play total co-op from start to finish – that’s not to say we won’t consider such ideas in our future games.”

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree launched on June 21 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series|S, Xbox One and PC. We gave the expansion 4.5 stars, with Hardware Editor Rhys Wood calling it “quite out of character among today’s downloadable content” and “FromSoftware’s biggest and perhaps best DLC expansion yet.”
