That’s according to developer FromSoftware, who in the most recent patch notes for version 1.13 that a potential unstable performance issue was discovered affecting PC players’ FPS, due to third-party applications potentially running in the background (via PC gamer).
“In the PC version, the unstable framerate may be caused by third-party applications controlling mouse behavior,” FromSoftware explains.
It is unclear if the developer plans to introduce a fix in a future patch, but a temporary workaround has been proposed that may temporarily resolve the issue.
“Disabling these third-party applications may improve performance,” the report said. “The version number of this update displayed in the lower-right corner of the title screen is as follows: App Ver. 1.13. Regulation Ver. 1.13.1.”
When Old Ring‘S Shadow of the Erdtree expansion was released in June, some players experienced similar performance issues. At the time, FromSoftware offered a similar solution, proverb“On the PC version, the frame rate may not be stable when you play the game while using a mouse-driven app. In that case, try playing the game after stopping the mouse-driven app.”
It seems like the issue has been going on for over a month now, but given the latest patch notes. In response to the possible fix, one user said said“Your game runs poorly on all devices. From consoles to ultra high-end PCs. And you lack Ultrawide support or DLSS/FSR/XESS. Things that modders implemented.”
Patch 1.13 went live earlier this week on all platforms, largely focused on introducing much-needed balance fixes to weapons, spells, and summons. While the majority of Spirit Ashes saw significant nerfs across the board, the update also changed the default selection that appears when attempting to summon Torrent after the Spectral Steed dies, making things a little less overwhelming during boss fights.
