The busiest day to travel to London this festive season has been revealed – and it’s Saturday, December 7, which sees the most day trippers.
This is evident from the London Northwestern Railway (LNR), which made the forecast based on Christmas passenger numbers in recent years.
LNR, which runs trains between London, Birmingham, Crewe and Liverpool, reveals that its busiest bank holiday in 2023 was Saturday, December 9, when more than 27,000 passengers traveled to London.
IIn 2022, Saturday December 3 was the most popular day, with 32,000 LNR journeys to the capital.
British tourists made more than 1.2 billion day trips in 2023, with London accounting for 23 percent of all day trippers during the year.

For those willing to face the festive rush, LNR offers some advice.
It advises you to plan your trip in advance and create an organized itinerary, and recommends that travelers book cheaper trips by booking train tickets in advance.
And to maximize the chances of a comfortable trip while laden with shopping bags, LNR has a tool ‘how busy is my train’ that shows how full your train will be. Simply enter your departure and destination station, along with the time you want to depart and arrive.

LNR has put forward a number of ideas based on the popularity of social media.
Visiting Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is the most popular activity on TikTok (504,000 posts), followed by watching Christmas-themed West Ends shows from ‘Christmas with Anton Du Beke’ to ‘The Nutcracker’ (124,400 posts) and watching to the dazzling Christmas lights on Oxford Street (41,200 messages).
Strolling through the Covent Garden Christmas Market (37,800) is another popular activity, along with skating on the Natural History Museum’s ice rink (14,300 posts).
