Eilish McColgan’s brilliant summer continued as she claimed a silver medal in the women’s 10,000m at the European Athletics Championships in Munich on Monday.

McColgan won Commonwealth gold in the 10,000m less than two weeks ago, while she also claimed silver in the 5,000m in Birmingham.

She may have hoped for another gold medal here, but was unable to keep up with Turkish athlete Yasemin Can, who stormed away from the rest of the field to repeat her victory from 2016 in the same event. McColgan was able to move past Lonah Salpeter of Israel in the final lap to claim second place.
