The beloved Indian TV actress Dr. Priya died of a heart attack at the age of 35, while eight months pregnant.
The expectant mother reportedly died while in hospital for a routine check-up on October 31 and suffered a ‘sudden’ cardiac arrest.
Her newborn baby is currently in the intensive care unit of a private hospital after doctors managed to save him, according to her co-star Kishor Satya, with whom she worked in the drama Karuthamuthu, who broke the news in an Instagram post.
He said of his co-star’s death: “Last night, as I went to the hospital, the sight of sadness rained down on my mind.”
Dr. A doctor by profession, Priya was one of the most popular actors working in India. Local media reported that she worked at the PRS hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, southern Kerala state.

Her death is the third in a series of unexpected deaths among Indian TV characters.
On Monday, Indian TV star Renjusha Menon committed suicide in a flat she shared with her husband Manoj, a fellow actor.
Menon, who was only 35 when she died, was known for her supporting roles in several TV shows and films, including ‘City of God’, ‘Marykkundoru Kunjaadu’, ‘Bombay March’ and ‘Karyasthan’.
The actor, who is survived by her father CG Ravindranath and mother Umadevi, was reportedly facing serious financial problems at the time of her death.
And in September, actor Aparna Nair also committed suicide in her flat at the age of just 33. She is survived by her husband and two children.
