Crawley have announced that their League Two play-off semi-final against MK Dons has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch just hours before kick-off.

Heavy overnight rain and the forecast of more rain on the day of the match caused local officials to deem the pitch at Broadfield Stadium unplayable.

The decision was made on Monday morning, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.

A club statement read: ‘Crawley Town Football Club is disappointed to announce that the first leg of this afternoon’s Sky Bet League Two Play-Off semi-final has been postponed due to a waterlogged surface at Broadfield Stadium.

‘Details of any rescheduled match will be released as soon as possible.’

The second leg of the match was due to take place on Thursday, May 9 at Stadium MK, but this could also be postponed to ensure sufficient recovery time for both sides.

Details about the rescheduling of the first stage have not yet been confirmed.

Around 700 MK Dons supporters were due to make the journey to Crawley and many were said to have left before the match was cancelled.
