Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said efforts are being made to increase the state’s annual budget to Rs 7 trillion in the next five years.
On July 3, the state government presented its budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 with a budget of Rs 3.65 trillion, which means substantial amounts are being allocated for infrastructure development and initiatives for women and tribals.
This time, the state budget is 16 percent higher than last year and is geared towards development, Yadav said at a meeting of the Central India Chamber of Commerce in Ujjain on Saturday evening.
“Many important provisions have been made in the budget to take the state forward. Efforts are being made to take the state’s annual budget to Rs 7 trillion in the next five years,” he said.
Yadav said the state government in the budget is focusing on infrastructure to achieve positive development outcomes, including in the irrigation sector.
The Rs 35,000-crore project connecting the Chambal-Parvati-Kali Sindh river will benefit several districts in the state, he said.
He pointed out that six new highways are being constructed in the state, in addition to several other highway projects.
The MP government has started the intra-state air taxi and helicopter facility to strengthen transportation, he said.
The CM further said that 42,000 doctors and health workers will be recruited for the community health centres.
The state government will give bonus on purchase of milk, besides wheat and rice, he said.
Yadav also said that a budget of Rs 500 crore has been released for the preparations of Simhastha 2028, which will be organised once in 12 years in Ujjain.
