Two masked burglars broke into a Houston woman’s home and stealthily navigated her home to steal medication from her bedroom while she slept.

Katrina Evans, a resident of southwest Houston, Texas, recently recounted the harrowing experience and shared surveillance footage that captured the daring theft.

‘It’s a fear that never goes away. How will you ever feel safe in your own home again?’ she told a local news station KHOU11.

In the videos captured by Evans’ security cameras, two hooded individuals can be seen discreetly walking along a wall as they enter the patio.

Another camera in Evans’ home shows the intruders walking up the stairs and into the bedroom.

Evans said she believes the alleged burglars entered her home through a sliding glass door that connected the patio to the house.

“They went into our bedroom and stole stuff there and then came into the office where I was sleeping and stood three feet away from me and also stole my medication,” she said.

The pair also allegedly stole her son’s PlayStation gaming console, Evans said, adding that she was asleep the entire time of the incident.

“They could have killed me, anything could have happened, they could have come back,” Evans said.

After realizing her medication was missing, Evans called her husband, who helped retrieve security camera footage.

Despite Evans immediately reporting to Houston police, the suspects got away with the crime.

“(My husband) started pulling up the CCTV footage and that’s when we knew, and we called HPD immediately and it took them four and a half hours to get here,” she said.

“It was disappointing, it doesn’t make me feel safer,” she said of authorities’ response to the incident.

Evans said one of the suspects looks familiar. She thinks it’s someone who lives nearby, and maybe she even knows that person.

The day after the alleged burglary, Evans even saw one of the suspects in the same area, but it again took hours for authorities to respond.

It is not the first time that Evans has had to deal with theft. Before the grisly burglary, Evans had her car broken into and the tires of her husband’s car stolen.

She now carries a personal alarm and has installed doorstops and real-time video cameras at home.

“So all I can do is put more locks, more alarms and more cameras and hope it works, which I shouldn’t,” she said.
