Edwin Castro, the $2.04billion Powerball lottery winner, buys a $47 million Los Angeles mansion as his real-estate portfolio grows and he lives large
Edwin Castro, the winner of the record-breaking $2 billion Powerball jackpot, is moving on and expanding his real estate portfolio.
Bel Air’s newly minted billionaire has now purchased a $47 million complex in Los Angeles sold by famed real estate agent Mauricio Umansky.
The enormous property has seven bedrooms and eleven bathrooms, a koi pond and a huge infinity pool with views of all of LA. It adds to his other Bel Air home and a residence in Altadena.
Castro’s life changed when he bought the winning ticket at a local gas station last year.
In February, Castro came forward to claim the winnings from the $2.04 billion November drawing, opting to take the lump sum of $997.6 million. Since then he has been spotted in a Porsche and at homes.

His identity was revealed at a press conference which he refused to attend in order to remain ‘private’.
But California state law requires lottery winners to reveal their full names, whether they want to or not.
The billionaire’s life has been on display as his multimillion-dollar purchases made headlines.
Castro has been living large since his win and is now purchasing three separate mansions in California for a total of $76 million. He was also seen driving away from a bank in a vintage Porsche.
The new seven-bed, 11-bathroom palazzo features DJ turntables, a champagne tasting room and a suspended glass walkway.
Upon entering the building, the foyer features a giant swimming pool-sized koi pond with glass walls and an infinity pool.
The entire house is wired and even those who take a dip in the pool can feel the beat, making it the perfect place for a party.
The house is even complete with a bar, a glass-walled wine cellar and a huge home theater and screening room.
Of course, the bedrooms have walk-in closets, sitting areas called ‘relaxation suites’ and large bathtubs – the epitome of luxury.

The five-bedroom, five-bathroom, 4,300-square-foot home is located in Altadena, California, close to where Castro grew up
One of his new homes is a $4 million mansion, also in the Los Angeles area.
The house comes with its own home theater, private office and expensive artwork, which will surely be enhanced given Castro’s hefty new bank balance.
Altadena’s home is just a short drive from where Castro grew up.
When Castro tires of the $4 million estate, he is only about 20 miles from his second complex in California, which he bought a week earlier for $25 million.
The sprawling 13,500-square-foot hillside estate comes complete with a full outdoor kitchen, gym, wine cellar and infinity pool.
At the time of his victory, Castro said in a prepared statement, “As shocked and ecstatic as I am to have won the Powerball drawing, the real winner is California’s public school system.”
Public schools in California serve as beneficiaries of the state lottery.
It means the education system received more than $156 million as a result of the record victory.
