His closest competitor for the Art Ross was fellow oilman Leon Draisaitl – who had 128 points this season, a total of 25 points behind McDavid.

By winning both trophies, McDavid is the first player to capture the goalscoring and scoring titles in the same season since Alex Ovechkin did it in the 2007–08 season.

McDavid is also the first person to score more than 150 points in a season to win the Art Ross since Mario Lemieux did it with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1995-96 season.

With 153 points, McDavid set the 13th best point-scoring season in NHL history. It’s the season with the best scoring in league history by someone not named Mario Lemieux or Wayne Gretzky.

Edmonton finished second in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference. They will face the Los Angeles Kings on Monday, April 17.
