Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson’s generally safe hands almost got him into trouble during the club’s Treble Parade – when he nearly decapitated teammate Sergio Gomez with a confetti cannon.

On Monday, Manchester’s blue half celebrated their three trophies with an open-top bus tour of the city, featuring all the stars of the season.

But images of the event on Twitter showed 29-year-old Ederson dangerously close to causing a serious incident with his young Spanish team-mate.

The Brazilian goalkeeper was seen brandishing a confetti cannon and firing eagerly towards the crowd, but it also happened right next to Gomez’s head, forcing the left-back to duck.

Gomez, who is in his first season at Man City, raised his hands to protect his face from the shock, although he emerged from the incident in Manchester city center unscathed.

Ederson’s goalkeeping in Istanbul kept their Italian opponents at bay, his leg providing a vital block to a Romelu Lukaku header that would have otherwise forced extra time in the Champions League final.

It has been hailed as one of the most important saves in Manchester City’s history.

The Man City players took part in the bus ride after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Inter Milan, although the initial 6.30pm start time was pushed back half an hour due to storm fears.

It is not the first bizarre moment to involve the Brazilian goalkeeper since Man City won on Saturday night. After the game, he shaved a reporter’s mustache.
