Why Ken Bruce isn’t a Swiftie!
It’s hard to escape Taylor Swift this summer, with even Sir Keir Starmer desperate to be photographed at her London concerts, but the American pop superstar is leaving Ken Bruce disappointed.
“Everyone is talking about Taylor Swift,” the veteran DJ tells me at the TRIC Awards in Mayfair.
‘I’m not, because I haven’t been with her. If she could write something that wasn’t about one of her exes, that would be good.
‘I know a lot of people have the same experiences [break-ups] but look for something else [to write about].
“We only play ’70s, ’80s and ’90s on Greatest Hits Radio, so she’s still a bit young for us.”
Bruce, 73, adds of today’s hits: ‘It only takes three notes to sell a record today.
“You can’t have an intro or a 40-second introduction. You have to be honest there.’

BBC Radio 5 Live star Nihal Arthanayake has revealed he was involved in a serious car accident this week.
“I really feel like we’re lucky to be alive,” he said of the crash, which left his Mercedes badly damaged on the M60 in Greater Manchester. ‘A truck hit a car that came my way and struck the back of my car.”
The presenter adds: ‘A reminder for me of how precious life is and what it can be taken away.
“Luckily we were all physically unharmed.”
Social media is proving to be expensive for ex-footballer Joey Barton.
Last week he apologized to Jeremy Vine and agreed to pay him £75,000 after making completely untrue allegations that the Radio 2 star had a sexual interest in children.
Now I hear that Barton is being sued by another media personality for “libel, slander and slander.”
ITV football pundit Eniola Aluko has just filed papers in the High Court.
The details of the claim are not yet public, but Barton’s comments on Vine came after he compared Aluko and another female expert to serial killers Fred and Rosemary West.

Considering his most celebrated on-screen persona, you’d expect Jack Ashton to go on a quest spiritual renewal within the CofE.
But 37-year-old Ashton, who made his name as preacher Tom Hereward in Call The Midwife, has chosen to entrust himself to Suri Mana, a ‘shamanic practitioner’ who trained in the Amazon.
‘I was really out of it [of] my comfort zone,’ admits Ashton, who last year split from his Midwife co-star Helen George, with whom he has two young daughters.
“But it was brilliant,” he adds of his “healing” experience.
He describes his session with Suri Mana as “quite extraordinary,” adding, “I would recommend it to anyone who feels stuck.”
