EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Anna Wintour’s office move at Vogue leaves staff ‘seething with envy’ in the fashion magazine’s London HQ
The temperature may be rising, but a chill is descending on Vogue supremo Dame Anna Wintour’s London headquarters.
After 66 years of leaving Vogue House, the elegant Mayfair building, the fashion bible has moved to an office building on The Strand, now a grimy thoroughfare.
And editors of other Conde Nast magazine titles with which Dame Anna, 74, shares the building, are said to have been left seething at the office plan.
“There are only two offices with beautiful views of the River Thames,” says my wife at the glossy empire.
‘And they have been scooped by Dame Anna, who is known as ‘The Empress’, and Tatler editor Richard Dennen, who we call ‘The Dauphin’. The building is boiling with jealousy.”
And I thought The Devil Wears Prada was a work of fiction!

Daisy Dunn is a dazzling deity for book presentation
Seductive classicist Daisy Dunn made sure she stood out at the London launch party for her latest book – by dressing up as a Greek goddess.
Described as ‘the next Mary Beard’, Daisy has called her book The Missing Thread. It argues that the classical world should be reassessed by its influential women.
“I’ve often wondered what these women would think if I wrote this book,” she says.
“I like to think they would be happy. You could bet that if Sappho were here, she would be looking at my classic white curtains. She once got into an argument with a woman and labeled her new lover a “country bumpkin” in ragged clothes. I’ll do my best tonight.’

Given £56 million from ex-King Juan Carlos of Spain, with whom she had a five-year affair, the vivacious Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn seems to do everything her way. But that’s not true.
I can reveal she has just deducted £4.5million from the £15million asking price for the idyllic Regency pile in Shropshire she put on the market last year.
With eleven bedrooms, ten bathrooms, a pool, tennis court, five cottages and over 200 acres, it’s not hard to see why Corinna bought it in 2015.
But two years later, a plate-sized piece of glass was cut from her bedroom window at night. While in Switzerland, she found a book about the death of Princess Diana on her coffee table.
Both, she claimed, were part of a campaign of intimidation by Spain’s intelligence services, which prompted her to file a claim in the High Court for £126 million in damages against the Spanish state.
But the court ruled last year that the case fell outside its jurisdiction.

Safety tips from Victoria’s Secret star
She was just 15 when she appeared on the cover of American Vogue, propelling her to supermodel status before her teenage years. Karolina Kurkova, now 40 and a mother of three, urges parents to keep a close eye on daughters who want to follow in her catwalk footsteps.
‘It’s important to ask questions: ‘Where is my daughter going? Who will take care of her? What’s the phone number if I can’t reach her?’ Or, “Who’s going to be with her?” she tells me at the amfAR Gala Cannes at Hotel du Cap, Eden Roc.
“I protect the young girls in the industry,” says Kurkova, who was modeling for lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret at the age of 16.
The Czech, who now lives in Miami, previously revealed her secret to avoiding burnout: keeping a 13th-century Buddha in her apartment and using essential oils.
Both, she says, give her “a sense of peace and well-being.”

As Supt Ted Hastings in Line Of Duty, he was known for memorable quotes such as ‘Now we’re sucking diesel’. Off camera, actor Adrian Dunbar remained tongue-tied in the art world due to his ‘working class’ background.
“The middle class knows better how to navigate the industry and what to say and what not to say,” explains the carpenter’s son from Northern Ireland.
‘I didn’t have much of a critical attitude, I had to develop that all myself… I made a lot of mistakes.
“When you come from a working-class background, you don’t always realize how ill-prepared you are.”

Lord Ivar Mountbatten put Bridwell Park, his prime Georgian home in Devon, up for sale last month for £5.5 million – with one very unusual catch: he and his husband, James Coyle, a director of air cabin services in Glasgow, were planning to in the building, no matter what happens.
Fortunately, that detail doesn’t seem to have deterred potential buyers.
“We have found a buyer,” he tells me at the DKMS London Gala at the Natural History Museum. “It’s up to the lawyers.”
The TV personality, 61, who made headlines when he became the first member of the royal family to enter into a same-sex marriage, has declined to give more details.

Here’s a baby who should grow up to have musical skills: Nicola Benedetti has given birth to her first child.
The Ayrshire-born violin virtuoso, 36, refuses to give details, but before the birth she was reportedly quietly married to American trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, who is 26 years her senior.
In March, the Grammy Award winner said she was feeling “positive” and “excited” about the pregnancy.
Jazz star Marsalis has three adult sons from two previous relationships and also a teenage daughter.
“We’ve known each other for a long time,” she has said. ‘Wynton first heard me play when I was seventeen. I had been a fan of Wynton’s music since I was a teenager.’
