Eddie Nketiah’s personal trainer has revealed how the 23-year-old’s incredible body transformation helped him thrive for Arsenal and intimidate defenders in the Premier League.

Nketiah scored twice on Monday night to help Arsenal beat Oxford United 3-0 and book a place in the FA Cup fourth round. As a result, Nketiah has now scored four goals in four games since the World Cup and has become one of Mikel Arteta’s star players.

Nketiah’s personal trainer says their impressive form on the pitch is due to the work they’ve been putting in in the gym for the past three years. The PT also attributed Nketiah’s ‘attitude and commitment’ to his impressive transformation.

Nketiah previously credited his gym routine during lockdown with helping him break through to Arsenal’s first team.

The 23-year-old star has continued to work hard behind the scenes to build muscle and strength.

The difference in Nketiah’s body has been highlighted by ESPN, who compared images from 2019 and 2022.

During a short clip posted on Twitter, Chris Varnavas, director of the Athletic Development Club, explained how he had helped Nketiah.

Varnavas told ESPN: ‘It’s [Nketiah] one of the best athletes we have on our books in terms of his attitude and commitment. He’s just on another level.

“His goal was to build some muscle, build some strength and work on his athleticism. So like his strength, his speed and his power.

So, yes, we sat down with the family, with himself, and put together a plan. What we do in the gym, we transfer to the court. That is the most important.

“You saw the other day, he had a good amount of strength to grab the defender, but he was also agile enough to turn around efficiently and score an amazing goal too.”

“So, I’m very happy with his progress so far and the opportunity he’s been given at this time.” I can definitely see him at the highest level really.

Arteta has been equally impressed with Nketiah. Speaking after Arsenal’s 3-0 win on Monday, he said: ‘[Nketiah] He showed great composure. He is a great finisher, timing of his runs and decision maker.

The Arsenal manager added: “His [Nketiah’s] understanding, his work rate, I think he’s getting better and better.’
