England manager Eddie Jones has resigned to lose Courtney Lawes the entire fall campaign due to a head injury.
Jones expressed concern about his skipper, who has not played since September due to a concussion.
Lawes still hasn’t passed his return-to-play protocols at Northampton and Jones suggested he won’t return to international service until the Six Nations.
Courtney Lawes is not expected to return to action in England during the Six Nations until next year
Asked if he’s kept in touch with the 33-year-old, Jones said: “Initially I did, but since he now needs some rest instead of feeling like he has to rush to get back, let’s it run its course. natural progression.
“We are in contact with his medical staff, but we will let him rest and come back. We are hopeful that he will be back for the Six Nations and ready to go.
‘I’m concerned about his health at the moment; that he is 100 percent healthy again. But these things come naturally – some heal faster than others.
“If it takes some time, the most important thing is his health and he will play rugby again when he’s ready.”
Lawes cannot return to action until he is symptom-free.

Northampton coach Ian Vass added: “He is still going through his protocols. He is training and running in and around the club. He seems happy by himself and he’s probably just as impatient as anyone else to see himself on the pitch.’
Owen Farrell has taken over the England captaincy in the absence of Lawes.
Jones is eager to test new backline combinations this fall, but his plans have been stymied by campaign-ending injuries to Raffi Quirke and Henry Arundell.
“We don’t think Raffi will be available in November and neither will Henry. Both boys are rehabilitating with their clubs.’
Raffi Quirke is one of the players likely to see no further action with England this month
