Eddie Izzard has introduced his new female name that he has wanted to use since he was 10 years old.
The comedian and would-be congresswoman, 61, revealed that she now alternates between her original name and a new nickname, but says people can choose what name they want to address her by.
The gender fluid artist was interviewed on Matt Forde’s Political Parties Podcast on Monday and shared his new name during the chat.
Eddie, who has used the she/his pronouns since 2020, but ‘doesn’t care’ if people use the he/she pronouns to address her.

Finding herself: Eddie Izzard has unveiled the new female name he’s wanted to use since he was 10, but said people can choose which one they want to address her with.
Politico reporter Eddie later added: “This is how I’m going to shoot, so people can choose what they want.” They can’t make a mistake, they can’t go wrong.
Eddie previously told huffington post: ‘I spent 50 years predominantly in boy mode, so let’s try the next 50 in girl mode.
It’s just a language setting. And no one should bother about it.
I’m still gender fluid and I tell everyone who’s supported me, “Relax him or her, it doesn’t really matter.” The pronoun is not important, the important thing was to get out [as trans] in 1985, that was the difficult moment.’
Eddie calls herself “a little bit of a boy and a little bit of a girl”. She uses the word ‘transgender’ as a general term.
She rose to fame as a cross-dressing comedian, but now identifies as a gender-fluid trans woman.
Eddie announced two years ago that he would prefer female pronouns and intends to be “based on girl mode from now on”.
