The Tractor Boys secured promotion to the second tier of English football after beating Exeter City 6-0 at Portman Road on Saturday.
Conor Chaplin, Massimo Luongo, George Hirst, Nathan Broadhead and Wes Burns shared the goals before the fans took to the pitch after the full-time whistle.
Sheeran showed his delight on Instagram by posting a picture of him wearing an Ipswich shirt while holding the badge and looking down.
The caption read, “EIEIO, we’re entering the football league!” @ipswichtown’.

Despite his global success, the four-time Grammy winner still lives in Suffolk and is a regular at the club’s stadium for home games.
Sheeran has also sponsored Ipswich since the 2021-2022 season, with logos from his previous albums on the players’ shirts.
“I am delighted to sponsor Ipswich Town for another season,” said the musician after extending the sponsorship deal in June 2022.
‘The club and the local community mean a lot to me, and I always try to go back to Portman Road when I’m back in Suffolk. See you next season.’
Heading into the penultimate weekend of the season, Ipswich knew a win would see them promoted ahead of third-placed Sheffield Wednesday.
And they got off to a perfect start, scoring five goals in the first 32 minutes and adding a sixth two minutes into the break.
Manager Kieran McKenna was delighted, saying, ‘It was amazing. I have to say it went way, way beyond what we expected.
“I’ve seen a few things like that on big Premier League grounds and before big European games, but I haven’t seen many things like that.
‘Seeing people’s faces’, the passion, the fun, the excitement, the passion… they were beautiful scenes. Not many players will have experienced something like this earlier in their career. It was a very special moment.’
Ipswich are one point behind Plymouth and still have a chance at the title if the League One leaders slip.
