Ed Sheeran enjoys a kitchen jam session with boyfriend Courteney Cox as he plays a song inspired by her sitcom Friends
Ed Sheeran and Courteney Cox had a jam session as he played her a song he wrote inspired by her TV show Friends.
In the video, Ed, 32, takes out his guitar and his friend Courteney, 59, plays the song he called American Town.
He tells her, “Courteney, I wrote a song inspired by Friends, the show you were on, and I’m going to play it for you. It’s called American Town.’
Ed then sings: ‘We’re far from home, haven’t seen you in so long / But it all came back in one moment.
And the years started cold, but I didn’t notice it at all and we found out there’s a room with both in / We ate Chinese food in little white boxes / Lived a life we saw in Friends / Your room barely fits the mattress, wake up late for work again.

‘The wind that seems to blow right through us / Down jackets are the trend / The rush to dive deep into love
‘English girl in an American city, elevator to the fifth floor, out, the buzzer rings and I’ll be down in no time, I wish time would stand still.
“With dungarees over the hoodie we’re gone, three feet above the ground / Lost in love and we don’t want to be found, it’s just you and me / English girl in an American town.”
Courteney then said, “Wait, that was really about the show Friends?”
Ed replied: ‘Well inspired, yes. Because you eat Chinese food in little white boxes and live the life we saw in Friends.”
Courteney joked, “Wow, I love that, wow. Do I get paid?’
Alongside the video, shared on Instagram, Ed wrote: ‘Improvised kitchen jam from American Town with my landlady @courteneycoxfficial, sorry for the late rent, I’m good for it.’
