Ed Sheeran breaks down in tears over wife Cherry’s cancer diagnosis while she was pregnant

Ed Sheeran burst into tears when his wife Cherry Seaborn admitted she was afraid she would die if she was diagnosed with cancer.

Doctors discovered that Cherry, 30, had a tumor in her arm last February while she was six months pregnant with their second child, daughter Jupiter.

In his Disney+ documentary, The Sum Of It All, the pair recalled their “terrible” start to 2022, which saw Cherry battle cancer, Ed’s best friend Jamal Edwards die suddenly, and a lawsuit over his song Shape Of You , where Ed was accused of plagiarism and later won.

“I was diagnosed with cancer early this year, which was a huge s*****r,” said Cherry.

“But it made me think a lot about our mortality. We are all human. I told Ed I would never have agreed to do something like that, but it got me thinking this whole year, “When I die, what is people’s perception of me? What are you leaving behind?”.

When Cherry first went to the doctor, she was initially told ‘this is really bad’ and that she had cancer.

The mother-of-two immediately called Ed and told him to cancel all his plans while they waited an agonizing month for the full report.

But Cherry, who was six months pregnant at the time, was told there were no treatment plans that would work with her pregnancy.

After sequencing the tumor, the couple discovered it was much less serious than originally thought.

Cherry said, “MeIt was the most incredible news. I almost threw up when the surgeon told us we could wait until the end of the pregnancy to take out the tumor.

“We didn’t have to worry about an early delivery.”

But the pair suffered the most devastating blow when Ed’s best friend Jamal died suddenly a day later at the age of 31.

The music magnate died of cardiac arrest after a late-night cocaine and booze session.

The pair became close after Jamal’s YouTube channel SBTV helped put Ed in the spotlight, and the entrepreneur gave the aspiring musician a place to sleep when he was 18 and had no place to live in London.

I was hit one after the other by heavy stuff. They found a tumor in Cherry’s arm. The diagnosis was wrong,’ Ed said.

“She was pregnant and there’s nothing they can do. Then all of a sudden I’m in this three week trial. Then Jamal dies.

“The moment you find out that the worst thing in the world has happened to someone you really love with all your heart, you feel like you’re drowning and can’t get out of it.

“I remember sitting in this specialist’s waiting room thinking the worst was about to happen. I’m worried about Cherry.

Later in the documentary, months after the initial surgery, Cherry gave an update on her health at a checkup appointment – and was thrilled when she was told the tumor hadn’t come back.

She said, “Yesterday I had a follow-up scan in my arm to see if the tumor had come back. We were quiet in the car because we were afraid it would be bad.

“It was super triggers to be in the same room when things weren’t so positive at the beginning of the year. The surgeon has reviewed the scans and it all looks good. The lymph nodes are all calmed down. That was amazing. it was huge for us.’

Earlier this month, Ed revealed that the opening track to his forthcoming album sums up his feelings about depression as he sings, “The more I love, the less I feel.”

Ed, whose album Subtract will be released on May 5, has dedicated Boat, the first track of his sixth body of work, to the arduous battle he’s waged over the past few years against grief, illness and addiction.

Accompanying the new song, which was written by English Coast, Ed premiered a video of him being lashed by waves on a shore.

The father-of-two, who has documented his overwhelming feelings of depression in his upcoming series, sings “but the waves won’t break my boat,” symbolizing his hope and determination as he recovers from a series of trying events.

In artwork captured by Annie Leibovitz, Ed can be seen running free from the crashing waves.
