Ed Sheeran has arrived ringside at the Dublin 3 Arena ahead of Katie Taylor’s rematch with Chantelle Cameron tonight.

The 33-year-old singer and songwriter took a seat next to Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn before watching Skye Nicolson’s fight with Lucy Wildheart.

Sheeran appeared to be in good spirits, laughing and joking with Hearn before posing for some photos with fans in attendance.

Sheeran – who is of Irish descent and spent most of his summer holidays in Wexford – will see if Taylor can avenge her loss to Cameron.

Cameron retained her WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO light welterweight belts six months ago

Taylor suffered the first defeat of her professional career during her Irish homecoming at the 3Arena in May, but will have another shot at the unbeaten English boxer tonight.

However, Cameron – who against all odds secured a majority decision victory six months ago to retain her WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO light-welterweight titles – will enter the ring as favourite.

Cameron – who previously told Mail Sport she is okay with being overlooked – said: ‘To be honest I’m ignoring the fact that I’m the favourite. For me, I’m the underdog.

‘Of course it’s nice to know that people now consider me their favourite. But for me, my mentality is that I’m the underdog and I’m not expected to win.

“I’m here, I’m in Dublin, I’m singing to Katie’s tune again, but I’ve got to make sure I go in there and spoil the party again. My mentality is that I am the underdog and I have to keep that mentality.”

Cameron started exceptionally well in the first fight. She came flying out of the corner and seemed ready to deliver the first blow. It was an unusual approach from the 32-year-old, but it worked.

Cameron continued to come forward and use her strength to land powerful shots. While Taylor’s game plan focused on her speed and quick combinations. However, it was power that ultimately won the battle.

When asked if he was surprised by Taylor’s tactics in the first few rounds, Cameron said: ‘Katie started differently than I thought she would start. But Katie isn’t as strong as me. She can come and try to meet me in the middle, but I can fight on the inside, I can fight on the outside.

“I got it all wrong for Katie Taylor. If she comes out and tries to assert her authority in the fight, she will meet me in the middle and she will come in second place.

“Looking back on the first fight, there were clearly things I did wrong. I looked back at the first fight and thought, oh god, that wasn’t good. I looked at the things that Katie did, I looked at her flaws, her strengths and I looked back on that and thought it had to be a better fight.

‘Katie often came in with her head down. If you looked at my head at the end of the fight, there were a lot of lumps and they weren’t from punches. I had bruises on my arms from bumps to the arms, but not on my head.

“I have to make sure I keep my head away from her head because she often comes in with her head.” If she holds too, I have to make sure I don’t let her do that. I gotta do what I gotta do. I’m ready to get out of that grip. I have to make sure I make her pay for it if she holds me too.”

But Taylor refuses to let that influence her. During Thursday’s press conference, she said: ‘There’s really nothing else to say. I’m just ready to fight. I hate all this talk, I hate all these press conferences. There’s nothing to say. I’m just ready to fight at this stage. I am excited and very grateful to have this opportunity.

‘I’m ready for whatever comes my way. I’m willing to dig deep if necessary. That’s why I put my body through the trenches week in and week out during training camps to be prepared for these situations.”
