‘You got your story wrong’: Baltimore Ravens legend Ed Reed calls out Shannon Sharpe and exposes her Instagram DMs after the Fox Sports host was puzzled as to why the coach walked away from Bethune-Cookman
Pro Football Hall of Famer Ed Reed publicly shared his private conversation with Shannon Sharpe and called him out after he turned down the opportunity to coach football at an HBCU.
Reed said earlier this week that he will not ratify his contract with Bethune-Cookman, which led to him being fired by the school after announcing that he had an initial deal with the former safety.
Before his expulsion, the Super Bowl champion publicly expressed his criticism of the state of the school’s sports facilities in an Instagram live stream. He later claimed that he was not “retiring my name as they say”. They don’t want me here. They don’t like me because I tell the truth.

On Wednesday, Sharpe said he couldn’t understand Reed’s expectations of the head football coaching job at Bethune-Cookman.
On Wednesday, Sharpe said he did not understand Reed’s expectations of the job on “Undisputed,” though he did say the Ravens legend was the NFL’s greatest safety of all time.
‘Many HBCUS are underfunded. I don’t know what Ed thought. That’s not the U [of Miami] Ed,’ said the three-time Super Bowl champion. ‘That’s not a power five bruh. They don’t have donors returning $30-40 million.’
Sharpe knows all about playing football for an underfunded school from his time at Savannah State in Georgia, another HBCU, before being drafted into the NFL.
He added ‘What’s Ed thinking? Most HBCUs are like this. I understand Ed’s passions, and he asks to clean the offices… But he wishes he had gone to administration. I wish he hadn’t made it public, he would have put it on Instagram Live, only to go to the admin and say “Guys, this is unacceptable.” He shouldn’t let my players pick up the trash.

After going back and forth with Reed, Sharpe said his opinion wasn’t that “profound” and left him
The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats went 2-9 last season in the SAC (NCAA Divsion 1)
In response, Reed told Sharpe on Instagram: ‘Put the Hennessy down and come yell at me. Do you want to yell across the court at the basketball players? I’m screaming through IG. straight up. Because you were wrong in your story. These young people are suffering and one of them used to be you.
He then shared the direct messages he had exchanged with the Broncos great.
‘Brother, I support you, IF* you were offended by anything I said. I apologize,” Sharpe wrote to Reed. ‘I think you’re going to make a hell of a coach. God didn’t think that was the right situation for you. All the best.’
Reed replied: ‘No, brother, that’s not all. God did it. You said a lot of bad things about me, playa.
-Like what? Sharpe asked.
‘Let’s talk. Naw, you did this on TV, let us talk. Sit in your place,’ Reed said then.
Sharpe, however, did not seem to want to take the conversation any further, leaving it at: ‘ED, I expressed an opinion. It’s not that deep. I wish you all the best, but I’m done with this.
