Eco zealot, 21, who poured human FAECES on Captain Sir Tom memorial could face criminal charges

The eco-warrior who provoked anger by pouring a bucket of human feces over a memorial to Captain Sir Tom Moore has been reported to police.

Derbyshire police have been warned about footage of former medical student Maddie Budd, 21, focusing on paying tribute to the much-loved national hero.

Video of the stunt, which was performed for the pressure group End UK Private Jets, has been passed on to police by the company that made the monument, AGC Fabrications.

Director Austin Cox confirmed to MailOnline this morning: “We are working with the police, we have a crime reference number.

“We are following it and hope they will prosecute. I can’t say any more about it at the moment.’

He had previously tweeted publicly: ‘I am the person who donated the memorial to Thistley Meadow and I would like to let you know that we will be prosecuting Maddie for vandalism. We will work with the police to make sure this is implemented as far as possible.”

The video will be examined by experts who will decide whether the act exceeds a criminal harm threshold.

Derbyshire Police said: ‘We have been informed that the Captain Sir Tom Moore memorial at Thistley Meadow in Hatton has been damaged. Our agents are aware and an investigation is underway.’

Ms Budd filmed herself pouring the canister of feces and urine over the memorial to the late captain, which made international headlines in 2020 when he raised millions for charity leading up to his 100th birthday during the Covid-19 pandemic.

And in a bizarre justification, she later submitted a video declaring: ‘People are going to say he’s a hero, people are going to say this is deeply, obscenely disrespectful to his life, and to the NHS he stood up for and I’m agree .

‘I studied to be a doctor because I believe in taking care of people. If we believe the NHS is important, if we believe in taking care of each other, if we believe NHS staff are doing essential work, why are we forcing our healthcare system to collapse, why are we forcing our civilization to collapse, why is nobody really who takes this genocide of all humanity seriously?

‘This is all true and the government won’t even put an end to British private jets, every time one takes off it’s pouring a bucket of shit and blood on everything Captain Tom stood for’

Opposition to the act was so fierce that it led to threats to file police charges against the eco-fanatic.

Captain Tom started walking 100 yards of his garden in 2020 at the age of 99, aiming to raise £1,000 for NHS charities for his 100th birthday on 30 April.

However, thanks to media appearances, his efforts captured the nation’s imagination and by his birthday, he had raised more than £30 million. He was considered a national treasure upon his death on February 2, 2021 after contracting Covid.

Ms Budd’s act of vandalism against the beloved captain, who was awarded a flypast by the RAF and British Army on his 100th birthday and was even knighted by the Queen, has sparked predictable public outrage.

“How will this convince people to earn private jet use?” wrote one Twitter user. “It looks like a kid throwing a disgusting tantrum and being beyond disrespectful. This kind of behavior will not convince anyone to change anything.’

Another wrote: ‘I hope she gets jail time for this. I’m not helping your cause at all, I’m against you and your cause now. Really disgusting, you should distance yourself from this disgraceful behavior it doesn’t support.’

While a third raised questions about why Ms. Budd is no longer a medical student.

‘Former medical student? What is she now? Or is that just too embarrassing to publish.’

And one person who claims to have donated the monument said they would sue Ms Budd for vandalism.

‘We will work with the police to make sure this is as far as possible.’

According to her Facebook page, Ms Budd was arrested in London last September while protesting with doctors and health professionals for Extinction Rebellion.

Flight emissions are known to be significantly worse than any other form of transportation, and private jets generally produce significantly more emissions per passenger than commercial flights.

Many celebrities have been picked up for their private jet use, with one of Kylie Jenner’s flights reportedly lasting an offensively short 17 minutes.

It is estimated that her 17-minute jaunt would have resulted in a ton of carbon dioxide emissions.

While not a huge amount per se, it is about a quarter of the average person’s total annual carbon footprint worldwide.

At the COP26 summit on climate change in Glasgow last year, a total of 76 private jet or VIP flights arrived in and around Glasgow in the four days leading up to November 1.
