Echo has arrived, and despite its smaller scale, it couldn’t help but shake up its own little corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at least a little bit. Marvel’s first Spotlight series released all five episodes on Tuesday night, but it isn’t until the final moments of the series that the show makes its own ripples. In usual Marvel fashion, the reveal took place during a brief mid-credits scene.

While Daredevil shows up early on EchoUnsurprisingly, it’s Kingpin who has the biggest impact at the end of the series. EchoThe only mid-credits scene opens with Wilson Fisk sitting in his private plane as the news plays in the background. New York City is in the midst of a heated mayoral election season, and no clear frontrunner has emerged yet. In fact, the experts describe it as a straight fight, joking that a bare-knuckle boxer would probably have the best chance.
In other words, the people are practically begging for Mayor Kingpin, and the big man has noticed. Far from the universe (or multiverse) that conquers the ambitions of many MCU villains, it seems Kingpin is content to set his sights squarely on the Big Apple for now.
Wilson Fisk has been the mayor of New York City before in terms of comics – and a fairly recent one at that. He got into office via fraud (voter fraud) on a platform of banned superheroes in New York City – which, after the whole Evil Captain America trying to take over the United States, wasn’t as unpopular as you. think. And he succeeded: superheroes are still technically banned in Marvel Comics’ NYC today, though Daredevil, Spider-Man and the like still fight the corrupt and evil, even as the next mayor, Luke Cage, tries to have the law repealed. .
Whether or not the MCU follows that exact template (Fisk banning costumed vigilantes, trying to rub shoulders with truly powerful shadow billionaires, and his inevitable fall), Fisk’s mayoral seat could be a plot point for a whole host of future projects . The MCU currently has quite a few characters in New York, and most of them are young and street level and therefore very likely to be influenced by Kingpin.
For starters, Peter Parker is back to being the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man after everyone forgot his identity No way home. Plus there’s Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova when she’s in town, Daredevil and whoever else introduces his show (once it is actually released), as well as Kamala Khan, although she may have graduated to strictly intergalactic conflict after that The miracles.
If all of this sounds like Kingpin is the perfect big bad for all these heroes to team up against, then apparently that’s exactly right. Echo producer Brad Winderbaum told Screen Rant’s Joe Deckelmeier that he hit the nail on the head when he called Kingpin the “Thanos of the street-level corner of the MCU.”
So while Echo may not have any connections to the next Avengers movie, but the series did have a pretty big impact on what’s to come for Marvel’s smaller heroes. And we can expect Wilson Fisk next Daredevil: Born AgainAlthough the show has reportedly undergone a significant overhaul in preparation for a return to filming this spring, it’s unclear exactly when that will be.
