A police operation is underway after hundreds of customers were evacuated from a shopping center in Sydney’s east.
Shoppers looking for their last-minute Christmas gifts were evacuated from Eastgate Bondi Junction at around 11am on Monday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and blocked off Spring Street, with reports that a suspicious package had been left outside the Coles checkout exit.
Police have not confirmed the reason for the evacuation, but told Daily Mail Australia the operation was a ‘precautionary measure’.
Pedestrians and motorists are urged to avoid the area as diversions have already been put in place to divert local traffic.
