EastEnders viewers have been left fuming, claiming show bosses have ‘ruined’ Karen Taylor following news the character will be axed after six years.
On Thursday, fans were not impressed with the laundromat’s sudden cool demeanor after the soap was initially presented as comic relief.
During the episode, Karen (Lorraine Stanley) encouraged son Keanu (Danny Walters) to deprive ex-flame Sharon (Letisha Dean) of her money as the couple battled over custody of their son Albert.
Following his mother’s advice, the little mechanic decided to fake his feelings for his ex-girlfriend in an attempt to leave the country with their boy.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer said: “The way they write Karen before she leaves makes me feel really sorry for Lorraine Stanley, she’s really great.

Last week actress Lorraine broke her silence after being forced to leave Albert Square.
Speaking with Sunrevealed she was gutted to be leaving the EastEnders family, but was excited to see what opportunities came next.
And the actress could be bserving a part on a rival soap, as she revealed: ‘I think it would have to be Corrie and I would have to be the new landlady.

Discussing the moment of shock when she found out she had been axed, she explained that while she was sad to be leaving, it gave her the opportunity to push herself outside of her comfort zone.
Speaking about her character’s legacy, she said: “I just want people to remember her as the best mum in the square, a heart of gold, she gave you a high five and would do anything for her kids – a bit like me.” ‘
The actress will leave the soap at the end of the year and Lorraine admitted she would be furious if her character was killed off.
“I hope Karen’s door stays open.” I can’t say too much, but if I get killed I’d never watch EastEnders again.’

Lorraine won’t be the only character exiting the soap in the coming months after the soap made history back in February with their epic ending to Monday’s regular episode as they teased a flash forward to the Christmas murder.
In shocking scenes, Denise (Diane Parrish), Cathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kelly Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki (Balvinder Sopal) are seen around the dead body, but the identity of the corpse and the killer were kept secret.
Discussing the co-dunnit storyline, she revealed that her character would love to see Phil Mitchell reunite for Christmas, but confirmed that the iconic character isn’t going anywhere.
She then teased who the potential victims could be as she suggested Thea, Nisha or Ravi.
