EastEnders fans share their shock as Kheerat gets LIFE sentence for ‘murdering’ Ranveer

EastEnders fans were in shock on Wednesday when Kheerat Panesar was given a life sentence after falsely confessing to killing Ranveer Gulati.

Kheerat confessed to the crime after his mother Suki thought she killed family friend Ranveer by hitting him on the head when he tried to attack her.

However, Ravi discovered that Ranveer was alive after his attack on Suki and was the one who delivered the killing blow, before covering up his crime to frame Suki.

After her family discovered her apparent crime, her son Kheerat (Jaz Deol) confessed that he wanted to protect his mother, and has now been devastatingly sentenced to life in prison.

Suki (Balvinder Sopal) then found a memory stick with evidence of her actions hidden behind a drawer, which made her realize that her abusive husband Nish (Navin Chowdhry) had kept the evidence.

The protective mother then decided to confess to the crime to save her son, before Nish managed to get the USB drive back and let the evidence out of her hands.

And viewers were devastated when they learned of Kheerat’s sentence for a crime he didn’t commit, calling on the show bosses to overturn his conviction.

On Twitter, someone wrote: ‘Absolutely furious that Kheerat is getting life, he doesn’t deserve it, he hasn’t done anything wrong. EastEnders really got him dirty.”

Another predicted, “Off screen, something will definitely happen to ensure that Kheerat is finally released! It can’t be where his life sentence remains!’

A third tweeted, “How did Kheerat get life when he didn’t even do it,” while a fourth added, “So Kheerat got life in prison, poor Suki.”

And another asked, “How did Kheerat get life if nothing proves he is?”

Kheerat’s future remains uncertain after actor Jaz Deol confirmed his departure from the BBC soap, with his final scenes showing him being led away by police.

With no plans for Kheerat to return, it remains uncertain whether his life sentence will be overturned and whether the truth about Ranveer’s death will ever be revealed.

Suki was completely devastated in Wednesday’s episode after her love interest Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) told her about Kheerat’s devastating punishment.

Eve first broke the news to Kheerat’s girlfriend Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), leaving the viewers in complete shock.

Eve explained that her friend at the court told her about Kheerat’s conviction and dropped the shocking bombshell: “He got life, Stace.”

Stacey shared her shock and said, “No, I thought they’d make it easy for him.”

But Eve said, “I know, I’m so sorry, Suki will be devastated, I need to check on her.”

Eve then went to Suki’s house to comfort her secret friend, only to realize that Suki was unaware of the horror news.

Eve said, “I know I probably shouldn’t be here, but you must be in shock.”

But Suki said, “What are you talking about?”

To which Eve revealed, “I’ve been talking to my buddy who works at the court, and… [he got] to live.’

A devastated Suki began sobbing in Eve’s arms, crying, “No, no, no!”

Eve said, “I’m so sorry, I’m sorry I thought you knew.”

But Suki said, “I don’t understand, everything just falls apart.”

Eve asked, “Why is there something different?”

Suki then revealed that she had found a USB stick hidden behind a drawer in her kitchen, which contained evidence of Ranveer’s attack on her.

She said, “I found this hidden behind a drawer.”

Suki shared her belief that Ravi kept the footage after saying he deleted them, but Eve reasoned that it also incriminates him, as he disposed of the body.

Eve then said to her, “You know who kept this, the man who always tries to control you.”

Suki said the footage was deleted before the laptop was returned to Nish, but Eve explained that “nothing ever really gets deleted” and can be recovered.

Just then, Nish came home, prompting Suki to hide the USB drive in a coffee pot to hide the fact that she found it from her husband.

She then told Nish that Kheerat had been given a life sentence, before trying to cover up finding the memory stick.

Explaining the mess and the removed drawer, Suki said, “When I heard the news, I just lost control.”

But Nish insisted, “Everything will be fine,” before ordering Eve to take Suki out for coffee while he cleaned up for her.

While talking to Eve, Suki said she intended to confess to the crime and give the police the evidence in an attempt to save her son.

Eve said, “We’ve got to get that flash drive and destroy it, because the police can never see it.”

But Suki said, ‘What if the police see it? They would then let Kheerat go. I don’t expect you to understand, but I have to do this for my son.’

Eve begged, “Please stop running Suki.”

But Suki insisted, “I’ve made up my mind.”

Tense: Elsewhere in the episode, Suki found a memory stick containing evidence of her actions hidden in a drawer, leading her to realize that her abusive husband Nish had kept the evidence.

After returning home to get the USB stick to give to the police, she was confronted by Nish, who asked her, “Are you looking for something?”

He then shockingly presented the USB stick when it became clear that he had found it in Suki’s temporary hideout and taken the evidence from her hands.

It remains to be seen if Suki can give the evidence to the police, or what Nish will do with the evidence.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
