EastEnders’ fans brand Stacey ‘ungrateful’ as she hits out at Kat for attempting to help out
Viewers of EastEnders were left in conflict Tuesday night when Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) came to blows.
Trying to help a single mom struggling with money problems, Kat decided to surprise the family with a new refrigerator/freezer, school uniforms, and a delicious take-out meal.
But the gesture seemed to go unappreciated by her proud cousin, as she punched Kat and even ended up throwing her takeout all over her in a heated moment.
She seemed grateful at first, before turning red when her daughter Lily paraded in her new Kat school shirt, with Stacey declaring that she can support her children on her own.
Many fans of the soap opera couldn’t relate to Stacey’s outburst, as they took to social media to call her “ungrateful.”
‘All this for a school t-shirt?’: EastEnders fans called Stacey ‘ungrateful’ on Tuesday night when she punched Kat for trying to help with the family’s financial problems.
Helping Out: Trying to help a single mom struggling with her money problems, Kat decided to surprise the family with a new fridge/freezer, school uniforms, and a delicious take-out meal.
Last week, Lily was seen explaining to her mum Stacey that her school shirt had outgrown, and the struggling mum decided to make a repair rather than shell out for a new one.
But deciding to jump in to the rescue, Kat turned to her fiancé Phil Mitchell’s bank account to help her family.
As Lily models her new school shirt for the rest of the family, she excitedly tells Stacey that Kat bought it for her, to a sour reaction.
“It’s my job to dress my kids,” Stacey defends, while her cousin replies that she’s “just helping.”
‘Stacey, yesterday you said you needed some things and Kat went to get them for you. Be thankful,” Jean says as she gets involved, while Kat jokes that she and Phil “won’t bother next time”.
‘Oh, me and Phil. You’ve forgotten what real life is like since you became Mitchell,” criticizes Stacey.
Assuring that she’s ‘still a briber’, Kat begins to get annoyed as she tells Stacey, ‘After all I’ve done for you today? You are jealous’.
‘Yes, I am. I’m jealous, I wish I could go on vacation four times a year. Every time I go to bed I’m so tired I could cry and then I wake up and I remember I have to do it all over again. Three kids, two jobs, no money. And the water keeps rising,” Stacey yells.
New gifts: She seemed grateful at first, before turning red when her daughter Lily paraded in her new school shirt from Kat, with Stacey declaring that she can support her children on her own.
Proud: “It’s my job to dress my kids,” Stacey defends, while her cousin replies that “she’s just helping.”
Ungrateful? The dispute left some fans in conflict as they took to social media to share their thoughts on her, with many criticizing Stacey for her “out of character” behavior.
Kat then reassures that she “hasn’t forgotten” what it’s like to fight, before criticizing that Stacey’s kids are “walking around in rags”.
This makes her cousin redder when she ends up kicking Kat out of the house after shoving a takeout tray over her clothes.
The dispute left some fans conflicted as they took to social media to share their thoughts, with many criticizing Stacey for her “out of character” behaviour.
‘Why is Stacey being like this? The truth is too proud, “questioned one Twitter user, while another advised:” It is not a sign of weakness to ask for help, Stacey.
A third user shared: “I’m with Kat in this argument even though I feel sorry for Stacey…she’s just trying to help.”
“She’s being ungrateful,” echoed another, while others questioned whether the fight over a school jersey was worth it.
But some users seemed to see her point of view and backed Stacey, as one wrote: ‘Kat deserved to be knocked down a bit by Stacey! She waved her flash money and higher social status, just a little bit of everything at once.”
When a second explained that they could see both sides, another agreed: “OMG Kat needed this, get her back to the Slaters right away.”
